Days 53 on the Loop – Ginger Bay to Pebble Island Marina (Tennessee River) (43.1 miles)

After our experience running aground yesterday on the way into Ginger Bay, we knew to be cautious when leaving and watched the depth gauge carefully, and had no problems.

It was a nice day on the Tennessee River, with pleasant temperatures and a nice wide river with gentle currents.

Vicki's turn at the helm

We took turns at the helm, and the auto-pilot was a great help.  You can set it to steer in a straight line and it does a good job at it.  It does not know when the river curves, or how the wind and current affect you, so you must make corrections every few minutes, but not having to have your hands on the wheel every minute is a great benefit.

We arrived at Pebble Island Marina about 4:30 pm and joined many Looper boats that we had seen at Green Turtle Bay.   The marina had a loaner car and we got that after Scott and Donna from Aleka returned from a shopping and dinner run.   We went ashore with Alonsi and had dinner and picked up some groceries before returning and turning in for the night.
