Prepping for the Trip to Britain
Tuesday - Wednesday, September 3-5 2019
Days 25 and 26 on the Loop – Alton, IL (0 miles)
Tuesday, September 3
I decided to have a quiet day indoors today. The temperature was forecast to be 90 degrees, but with the humidity it would feel much hotter. As of 3:45 pm it was 87 degrees, but the weather web site said that it felt like 97. I'm very appreciative of my air conditioning. The coolest it will get tonight (actually, around 5:00 am tomorrow) is 73 degrees :(.
I got caught up on my credit card entries and also entered my flights (all six of them) for my trip to and from Britain on to my calendar. I also contacted several friends to set up dinners and get-togethers over there. They have all been very kind to work me in, as this trip is quite last minute.
I also made a reservation for Green Turtle Bay Resort/Marina which looks very nice. My plan is to arrive there on Thursday, September 24 and spend 14 days there, before leaving for the AGLCA Fall Rendezvous on Tuesday, October 8. This will also give me time to visit my friends Matt and June in Louisville.
Horrible news emerging from southern California of the fire and sinking of the Conception dive boat that was anchored off of Santa Cruz Island, west of Los Angeles. All of the 33 passengers and one crew member died, trapped below decks.
Wednesday, September 4
Spent the morning getting some healthcare reimbursement paperwork completed and then walked over to put some laundry in to the washing machine. They have a good deal here, with $1 for a wash and $1 for a drier (60 minutes). Machines and the laundry room are always clean (and the room is comfortably air conditioned!).
Stopped in at the office since Amazon said that some clothing I had ordered for the trip to Britain had arrived. It has not! Yikes! I leave tomorrow. Called Amazon and the recorded response was "Sometimes it gets mistakenly tagged as delivered. Call back tomorrow if it has not arrived." Hoping the pants, shoes, etc. arrive later today or tomorrow.
Also, tried to find a serial number for the Webasto heater to send to Winter Island Yacht Yard (WIYY) so they can send me a proof of purchase so I can hopefully, at some point, get the problem with this heater covered under warranty. Did some gymnastics to get a photo of the label, but there is no serial number on the label. Sent the picture off to WIYY so at least they have that.
